John L. Raith, age 74 years, passed away Monday December 17, 2018. John was born on October 3, 1944 in Summit Lake, WI to Otto and Gertrude (nee Carlin) Raith. He graduated from Elcho High School where he played baseball and raised beef cattle during his high school years. He played in the Langlade County League representing the Summit Lake League. He enjoyed hunting elk in Wyoming, water skiing, was a heavy equipment operator in the family logging business. On January 5, 1981 he married Janet Schiller in Summit Lake, WI. He later retired from the Raith Bros. Logging Company and then moved to Wyoming before returning to Wisconsin in 2014 after twenty-five years in Wyoming.

John is survived by his step-children; Cynthia (Mike) Tennies, Charles Gettelmann, step-son-in-law Mark Herrmann, Andrew (Kathy) Gettelmann and David (Deb) Gettelmann, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, his sister Alice Yoder Whitmore of Mosinee, WI., brother Charles (Diann) Raith of Summit Lake, WI., sister Veronica (Jan) Wagner of Pelican Lake, WI., nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet, step-daughter Linda Herrmann, and step-grandson David Guin..

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 11th at Holy Family Catholic Church (W10524 Cole St. Elcho, WI) with Fr. David Zimmerman presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday May 11th from 10:00 am until time of mass at 11:00 am. A Lunch will follow the mass at the Upham Town Hall in Summit Lake. Final place of rest will be in Dubois, Wyoming.
