John "Jack" William Gaynor of Slinger, WI, passed away peacefully on July, 28, 2013, surrounded by his family. John was 83 years old. John was born in Evanston, Illinois on June 18, 1930 to parents Dorothy and William Gaynor. The family moved to Green Bay, WI in 1940. John graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1956. On June 29, 1957, he married Ilamae Stephani in Black Creek, Wisconsin. He was employed by the Pitney Bowes Corporation for 36 years. He belonged to the Slinger-Allenton Rotary Club. He was the Rotary Youth Exchange Chairman for Rotary District 627 from 1985 to 2000. He enjoyed working with the high school exchange students from all over the world. He also enjoyed traveling with the grandchildren during Easter vacations, showing them many parts of the United States. He also enjoyed boating activities with family and friends on Big Cedar Lake.
John served in the Navy during the Korean War.
John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ilamae and six children, Michael (Stephanie), Sue (Tom Kapke), Scott (Josie), Linda (Brian Krause), Elizabeth (Scott Sterman), Bill (Becky); 16 grandchildren: Joshua, Dana, Jonathan (Theresa), Jennifer, Jessica, Alicia, John Ace, Justin, Bradley, Nick, Aaron, Jaimee, Nathan, Abby, John, Emily.
John is preceded in death by his father William, his mother Dorothy, sisters Pat DePrey and Kathleen Ferris, and infant granddaughter Nicole.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 200 E. Washington St. in Slinger on Sunday, August 4, 2013 with Fr. Richard Stoffel presiding. The visitation will be at the church from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with mass at 4:00 PM and a meal to follow. A private burial will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery.
