Dr. John D. Coffey, age 77, passed away on February 17, 2026
in Grafton, Wisconsin. John was born in Massachusetts on October 18, 1948 to Linn W. Coffey and Helen Coffey, who was a native of Ireland.
John spent his life at a number of interesting and impactful jobs, from working within the health care system on the Navaho Indian reservation to developing the roots of a computer program
that is now commonplace on all computers.
He retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2022.
John had had innumerable health challenges throughout his life.
He leaves behind numerous friends as well as his “significant other,” Elizabeth Richie, who was devoted to his care.
