John Alan Butler, Age 67, of West Bend, entered into eternal peace on November 1, 2015 with his family by his side. John was born on January 20, 1948 to Ralph and Pauline (Brownfield) Butler in Iowa City, Iowa. The family moved to Elroy, WI where John graduated from Royall High School in 1965. It was during his senior year, he met the love of his life, Donna Faye Cleaver. They were united in marriage on June 18, 1966 at St. Patrick's Church in Elroy. John and Donna moved to Saukville and then West Bend, where they enjoyed life as partners, companions and parents, raising their two sons, Randy John and Jeffrey Lane.
In 1972 John started his career as a qualified member of MONY's (Mutual of New York) Top 50, Presidents Council, was a registered Securities Representative and received the National Sales Achievement and National Quality Awards for many years. John with seven agents from multiple states formed a Tax & Estate Planning Study Group for seven years. Later he joined Equitable Life of Iowa / ING Financial Partners. John earned his certifications as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) John retired from his professional career in 2002. In 2004, they began a new venture as owners in two assisted living facilities. John's esteemed work ethic and business sense were admired by many and served as a great example to both sons who followed in his footsteps in the Insurance and Investment business. He is best remembered for his unending devotion as husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. John celebrated life by enjoying his family, business endeavors, golf outings, hunting with the boys, traveling to Arizona and trips to their cabin in Northern Wisconsin. He considered himself blessed by his family, many friends and clients over the years. John cherished dearly each of his six grandchildren and his love for them was truly beyond measure.
John is survived by his wife Donna, of 49 years; two sons, Randy (Rae Ann) of Mondovi and Jeff (Heidi) of Kewaskum and six adoring grandchildren: Olivia, Alexander, Elayna, Benjamin, Isabella and Alison. Survivors also include: sister, Paulette Anderson, brother, Jerry (Sarah) Butler; Sister-in-laws, Mary Knepprath, Rosanne (Denny) Wopat, Diane (John) Noonan , Teresa (Al) Triebs; Brother-in-laws, Jerry Cleaver, David (Lori) Cleaver, Mark (Laurie) Cleaver, Mike Cleaver and Richie Cleaver. Also included are many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; Ralph and Pauline Butler; step-mother Jewel Butler; parents in-laws John and Eleanor Cleaver; brother, Jim Butler; brother-in-law, Thomas Cleaver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (331 Main St., Kewaskum, WI) on Saturday November 14, 2015 at 11:00am with Father Edwin Kornath presiding. The visitation will be held at The Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI) on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 4:30-6:30pm with a Vigil Service to follow lead by Fr. Frank Baiocchi. Continued visitation at church on Saturday November 14 from 10:15am until the time of mass (11:00am)
