Joan M. Strobel, "Joanie", age 74, found Eternal peace on Friday, October 9, 2015 with her family by her side. Joanie was born to Desmond and Julia (nee Goretski) Cotter on March 11, 1941 in Wittenberg, WI. She married Barney Strobel on November 1, 1986 in Kewaskum, WI.

Joanie was the ultimate people person and lit up the room with her presence. She was an animated storyteller, eager fisherman, competitive game player, avid recipe tester, and had a passion for the one armed bandit. She cherished the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Joanie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Barney; children Susan (special friend Alfredo Lopez) Kleppin, Cindy (Fred) Mollwitz, Mike (Denice) Sterr, Larry (Camille) Sterr, Mary (Jim) Gutjahr, Mike (Jane) Strobel, John "Squeak" (Jodi) Strobel, and Shelley (Todd) Bartelt; grandchildren Alexander Kleppin, Katy Mollwitz, Mikenna Sterr, Dustin (Laura), Andrew and Jacob Sterr, Kevin (Laurel) Gutjahr, Kimberly (Dennis "Buddy") Mechenich, Jenny (Joe) Mechenich, Jason (Karen) Strobel, Jessica (Christopher) Indiraraj, Jenna Strobel, Jill (Scott) Nitschke, Jackie (Brad) Warner, Tyler (Lindsey) Bartelt, and Dylan Bartelt; 13 great grandchildren; brothers Larry (Nancy) Cotter, James (special friend Donna Klumb) Cotter; sisters Sally (Chuckie) Fellenz, Susie (Thomas) Guth; sisters-in-law Jeanette Eisenhut and Val Strobel. Further survived by nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. Joanie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Collette (Bernie) Kastner.

A Funeral Service for Joanie will be held on Wednesday, October 14th, 2015 at 5:00 PM at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) with Dan Schroeder presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Parish/School (406 Jefferson St. or 415 Roosevelt Drive West Bend, WI 53095).
