Obituary
Joan Ruth Giles (nee Patterson), age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Serenity Villa in Slinger. She was born on June 24, 1928 to Lewis and Josephine (nee Albers) Patterson in Green Bay, WI. Joan enjoyed playing golf, pickleball, power walking, water aerobics and puppy sitting.
Joan is survived by her 2 daughters; Sherry Schaefer, Debbie (Paul) Wolf; 3 grandchildren, Amy (Jon) Schlicht, Brad (Tracey), Alison (Matt) Masters; 6 great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Jenna Schlicht, Mathias and Mackenzie Schaefer, Sydnee and Carter Masters. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Giles; her parents; brothers, Don, Jim, Jerry, John; sister, Rita and son-in-law, Bob Schaefer.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at St. Peter Catholic Church (200 E Washington St. Slinger, WI 53086) with Fr. Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation will be at church on Sunday, September 8 th from 12:30pm until 1:45pm. Private inurnment at New St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Alzheimer's Association (620 S 76 th Street, Suite 160 Milwaukee, WI 53214-1599) or Washington County Humane Society (3650 State Road 60 Slinger, WI 53086).
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Serinity Villa Assisted Living in Slinger and Brighton Hospice.
