Janet Marcella Otten (nee Luebke), age 91, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023 surrounded by her six children and family at the Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum. She was born on December 5th, 1931 in Port Washington, WI to Albert and Hildegard (nee Esselman) Luebke.
Janet enjoyed painting, country music, camping and time with her family. Janet graduated from Washington high school and worked at a Chevrolet dealership in her twenties. She met her husband, Sylvester at a Newburg picnic, who gave her his class ring as a promise that he would call her for a date. They married on May 2nd, 1953. Later, they resided at 202 Schmidt Rd. with their six children. Janet worked part time at the Screw Machine Shop in Barton, WI. Janet made birthday celebrations an event, and everyone in her family felt loved and special. She was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2019, and has been taken care of by the compassionate nursing staff at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.
Janet is survived by her children, Lynette (David) Tennies, Debra Otten - Otte, Reenie Tetzlaff, Mark (Janet) Otten, Lisa (Dennis) Abrahamson and Michael (MaryJo) Otten; brother Ronald (Tina) Luebke. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Brian, Craig, Christa (Bob) Susen, and Jason Tennies. Julia Otte, Eddie Faber, Mark (Eric) Tetzlaff, John, Mary Rose, Elizabeth and Anna Otten, Mara, Chloe and Grant Abrahamson, Bill (April) and Tim (Katelyn) Otten, ten great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester, her sister Marjorie (Jim) Hill, her brother, Vincent (Joan) Luebke and her parents.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 pm on July 21st at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (406 Jefferson St. West Bend, WI 53090) with Fr. Jacob Strand presiding. Visitation will be prior at church on July 21st from 10:30 am until 11:45 am. Interment will follow at St. Peters in the Town of Farmington.
We sincerely thank the staff at Kettle Moraine Gardens of Kewaskum for all the wonderful care they have given to our mom over the past eight years. She was happy living there and it was comforting for us to know how well she was being looked after.
