Janet "Jan" L. Holter, age 76, passed away on October 19, 2017 in the Lawlis Family Hospice center at Columbia St. Mary's (Mequon, WI). She was born June 2, 1941, in Morris, IL to Eber and Fern Hume, and was the older sister to E. David Hume of Morris.

She and Carl Holter (Hatton, ND) met in October 1966, married on May 28, 1967, and spent the next 50 years together as the best of friends and partners in love.

A passion for music and playing piano led her to a life filled with teaching, conducting, performing, and leading worship at church. Jan will be remembered as a hospitable host, an inspirational and motivational teacher of bible classes and piano lessons, greeting card creator, devoted wife, proud mother, adoring grandmother, beloved sister, and trusted friend.

She is survived by her loving husband Carl, their three children, Daniel (Kate) Holter, Mark (Shea) Holter, Joy (Jamie) Zaffke, and seven grandchildren, Elias, Samantha, and Grayson Holter, Abigail and Seth Holter, and Tyler and Isabella Zaffke.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 4th, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9741 W. Beloit Rd., Milwaukee, WI 53227, with visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 pm and a reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jan's name to one of her favorite charities: Foundation For His Ministry (CA), Standing Stones Retreat Center (AZ), Divine Shepherd
