James (Jim) E. McGlenn, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 6th, 1929 in Walla Walla Washington to the late Margaret (Mimi nee Watson Falconer) and John McGlenn. Jim grew up in Washington State and California before moving to the Midwest to attend Marquette University after serving in the Korean War. It was while attending Marquette that Jim met Lois. They were married in September of 1963. His work career was varied and included sales, mechanical construction as well as general construction in Milwaukee and West Bend.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, stepson Robert, and daughter-in-law, Glenna. He is survived by his sons: Sean McGlenn (Lyn Fiedler) of West Bend, Deven McGlenn (Katie Boyd McGlenn), grandchildren: Carl Vogt of Pewaukee, Boyd McGlenn, Maggie McGlenn, and Tess McGlenn of Madison, and step-daughter: Kathy Jackson (Tom) of Saukville and their children, Chris Jackson, Molly Jackson-Malmberg, Tory McGlenn and Tracey McGlenn. Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, close friends and their families.
Jim was an Evans Scholar Lifetime member and an avid golfer. He and his close golf buddies enjoyed their many outings over the years up until July of this year. When asked, "How was your golf game", he often responded, "Not good".
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 7th at 4pm with a visitation from 2 – 4pm at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel on 1420 W. Paradise Ave. in West Bend, with a reception to follow.
