Obituary

Henry Richard Peters
July 6, 1952 - January 8, 2026

Henry Peters entered the gates of heaven on January 8, 2026 at the age of 73 after a courageous five-month battle of pancreatic cancer. He was born to Donald and Harriet Peters on July 6, 1952, the eldest of eight children. Henry’s success as a dairy farmer started as young boy following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. Growing up on his parents’ dairy farm near West Bend, his family moved to the Theresa area to expand the farm. He studied agriculture at UW Madison before taking over the family farm with his brother. Henry dearly loved farming and his weathered hands were the result of many years of hard work and dedication. Farming was not just his livelihood, but his calling. He had a deep respect for the environment and believed strongly in caring for God’s creation, taking pride and being a faithful steward of the Earth.

Henry was a man of strong faith, which guided his life in his actions. He lived his beliefs quietly but consistently, setting a meaningful example for his nieces, nephews and anyone he came in contact with. He touched the lives of many high school students by teaching in the parish religious education classes. His integrity, humility, and compassion reflected his devotion and left a lasting impression on those who looked up to him.

Henry lived a single life; rich in purpose and generosity. He was known for helping people in need, without seeking recognition. He had a love of learning and remained curious throughout his life, always eager to understand more about the world around him.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his faith, his love of farming, his care for the environment, and his generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Henry is survived by Jane(Barry)Graff, Mary (Paul) Petri, Chris Eshun, Carol Beistle, Mike (Mary Pat) Peters, Donna Kanas, Jim (Wendy) Peters, over 20 nieces and nephews, and more than 20 great nieces and nephews. Henry is further survived by two Aunts: Cathy (John) Machacek, Rita Peters, and Uncle Br. Isidore Herriges O.F.M. Cap.

Henry was welcomed into heaven by his father, Donald Peters, mother, Harriet Peters (Herriges), nephew, Joel Kanas, his brother-in-law, Alan Kanas and many aunts and uncles.

Special thanks to Dr. Timothy Goggins, MD and the nursing staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Germantown for their care and concern.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 WI-175 Hartford, WI 53027) from 9 AM until 1:45 PM with Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM. Private burial will be held at a later date.
