Obituary

Hazel L. Boettcher (nee Seehauer), age 91, of Merrimac, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Sauk City, WI. She was born on January 3, 1922 in Milwaukee. She married Clarence Boettcher in 1948 and joined the family business, Boettcher's Lakeview Resort on Big Cedar Lake. The resort was in operation from 1900 until 2002. She was the kitchen manager at Little Switzerland Ski Hill in Slinger and also offered friendly food service on the 9th Hole Cabana at Zimmerman's Kettle Hills County Club, both for many years. In addition to working, Hazel's favorite pastimes included various types of needlework and spending time with her Collies. She will always be remembered for her cheerfulness and especially for her talent as a great cook and a wonderful baker.

She is survived by son, Bill Boettcher; step-children, Susanne Burke, and Robert (Linda) Boettcher; step-grandchildren, Steven (Karen) Burke, Timothy (Kathi) Burke, Kerry (Tom) Borcherding, Erin (Michael) Bull, Charles (Laura) Boettcher, Andrew Boettcher; great-grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Burke, Patrick (Anne) Burke, Sarah Burke, Kathryn Burke, Dylan Boettcher, Ella and Lily Boettcher; special friends, Jane Herte, Ruby Zimmerman, Russ Krebs, Jerry Mueller, Jason Mack, and Ken Meyers III, Josh and Jen Maddox. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and many special guests at Boettcher's Resort over the years.

She is preceded in death by husband, Clarence Boettcher; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Loraine (Milton "Mike") Maxon, Evelyn (Charles) Goldsmith; grandsons, Gregory Burke and Jeff Boettcher; and former son-in-law, Michael Burke.

The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (799 St. Paul Drive, Slinger). The visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, September 12th from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association (Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674) or Washington County Humane Society (3650 State Rd 60, Slinger, WI 50386).
