Obituary

Harold Alfred John Schmidt, age 93, passed away on Sunday, December 7,2025 at Cornerstone Assisted Living in West Bend, WI. He was born on March 1, 1932 at home, in the Town of Jackson, the son of the late Arthur & Meta (Nee:Miller) Schmidt. A lifelong resident of West Bend, Harold was Baptized and Confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church & attended School 1st through 8th grade. He enrolled in West Bend High School but shortly after starting the school year, Harold made the choice to leave school to help his parents on the farm, he then went on to make a life and career from this choice. He was awarded The Century Ownership Certificate for 100 years of family farming.
On May 5,1962 Harold married Nathalie Buch at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grafton, WI, to this union four children were born. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children, he enjoyed helping his children with their 4H projects and was a very proud parent of all their achievements and accomplishments. Harold had a love for Farming and tractors, being a member of the Wisconsin Antique Tractor Reunion Club, as well leader and member of Kirchhayn Trotters 4-H club. He also was a member of the National Eagle Foundation. He had a lifelong enjoyment for playing Sheepshead with his friends at the Prime Minster. He played Dartball for many years with church friends. His special nephew Lyle Hoefert was always there to assist him when he was working on his tractors.
After his retirement from the farm, he loved any opportunity he had to travel, visiting notable places such as Mount Denali, Alaska, Germany, Jamaicia and Europe. He was most proud of his trip to the Artic Circle.
Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years Nathalie (Nee: Buch) Schmidt, 4 children, Dawn (Steve) Rasmussen, Charlie Schmidt and his friend Tina, Diane (Eric) Margelowsky, and Allen Schmidt and his friend Kathy, 5 grandchildren Andy, Samatha, Stella, Hailee, and Jazmyne, 5 step grandchildren, Amber, Eric , Natasha, Meghan & Ethan, as well as 10 step Great -Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Eileen (Donald) Klug, sister-n-law Emmy Johnson, Cousin Jean Schmidt, as well as nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Meta, as well as his sister Edna and her husband Harold Hoefert.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19,2025 at 12:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church locates at 1268 Pleasant Valley Rd. in West Bend. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. -11:45 A.M. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family would like to thank Sharon Anderson Hospice team as well as Aleshia and the staff at Cornerstone Assisted Living in West Bend for the care they showed Harold during his time there.
