Obituary
Grace Louise Schulz (nee Dobberphul) was born to Walter and Sarah (nee Knuth in Jackson Wisconsin on March 17, 1934. Grace was made a child of God through baptism shortly after her birth and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at David's Star Lutheran Church in 1948. She attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Grace became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Newburg and taught in the school for a short time.
Grace married the love of her life, Donald Schulz, on September 18, 1954, and for sixty-eight years they were each other's one and only. They were blessed with five children who will treasure their memories of their wonderful Christian mom.
Grace's focus was on her Savior and her joy was her family. In addition to helping with the work on the family farm she was the ultimate homemaker: sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and freezing and canning fruits and vegetables. She knew everyone's favorite treats and made sure they were there waiting when you came to visit. She loved embroidery and crafts and made countless gifts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and playing the piano. In later years she looked forward to the annual family vacation in Door County and attending senior Bible class every week.
The Lord called Grace home to heaven on Wednesday February 26, 2025. Left to cherish memories of Grace here on earth until reunited in heaven one day are her children: David Schulz, Debra (Mark) Oehme, Susan (Rev. Gregory) Gibbons, Gerald (Doreen) Schulz and Lorie (Scott) Reif; eight grandchildren: Stephanie (Jason) Wakefield, Michael Gibbons, Naomi Gibbons, Matthew Gibbons, Christopher Gibbons, Noah Reif, Jessica Schulz and Evan Schulz; four great-grandchildren: Carter, Jackson, Ford and Grant Wakefield; one brother: Rick (Sue) Hahn; one brother-in-law: Bill Schulz. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death are her dear husband Don, her parents, one brother: Raymond and two sisters-in-law: Donna Schulz and Deanna Dobberphul.
A memorial service remembering Grace's life and love for her Savior will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend. Family will be present for visitation from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the pastors of Good Shepherd for their faithful service and visitations over the years and also the staffs of Preceptor Home Health Hospice and Waterford at West Bend Community for their excellent care throughout the last months of Grace's life.
