Gladys E. Unger (nee Zimmerman), age 87, of West Bend, joined her beloved husband Arnold on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. She was born on August 24, 1927 in Berlin, WI and was daughter to Theodore and Florence Zimmerman. She met Arnold Unger in West Bend, WI and they married on June 28, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newburg.

Gladys was an avid salt and pepper shaker collector and enjoyed buying and selling them along with other collectibles and fresh vegetables alongside her husband at various flea markets. She enjoyed playing sheepshead and had numerous pen pals. Gladys loved sewing and quilting, reading and putting together jig saw puzzles and spending time with her family.

Gladys is survived by children, Lonna Gundrum, Larry (Geralyn), Lance (Paula Kim); grandchildren, Lisa Belman (Allan Sukowski), Michelle Gundrum (Joseph Ferguson), Timothy Gundrum, Nick (Lela) Gundrum, William (Haley) Unger, Mary Unger (Mitch Phillips), Robert Unger (Mary Stevens), James Unger and Christine Unger ; great-grandchildren, Jared Gundrum-Sukowski, Dahlia Gladys Unger and Madison Phillips; siblings, Gerald Zimmerman, Alice Hempton and Theodore Zimmerman Jr.; siblings-in-law, Bertha Tackes, Shirley Zimmerman and Jerry Whiteaker; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold, In-laws Hugo and Alma Unger; siblings, Ann Whiteaker, Carl Zimmerman and Edwin Zimmerman; siblings in law, Willard Tackes, Carole Zimmerman and Darwin Hempton.

A Memorial Service for Gladys will be held Saturday March 28 at 12:30PM at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) with Pastor Richard E. Lauersdorf presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30AM until the time of the service.
