Obituary
Gilbert "Gilly" Alfred Luebbe, age 82, of West Bend, WI passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2024. Gilbert was born on March 2, 1942, to Elmer and Josephine (Luy) Luebbe in Glendale, WI. He was united in marriage to Judith Luebbe (Hoerchner) on June 14, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church in Jackson and shared 32 wonderful years together.
Gilbert had a passion for mechanics, for over 50 years he worked as a bus mechanic. He was a man of many words who found passion in the outdoors. You could always find him out hunting, cutting wood, or driving his tractor up and down his beloved driveway. His love for firearms was a defining part of his life. He was known for his skills, knowledge, and respect for sportsmanship. Gilbert enjoyed going to every gun show known to man along with his son, Thomas, who he loved dearly.
Above all, Gilbert cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted grandfather, always eager to share stories, teaching them lessons and offering a helping hand. His warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor will live on in their hearts forever. We love you, Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; son Clinton (Heather) Luebbe of Beaver Dam, daughter Jenny (Jon) Dietz of Slinger, and son Thomas Luebbe of West Bend; grandchildren Evie (Jackson) Bailey of Fond du Lac, Dayton Luebbe (fiancé Jenna) of Beaver Dam, Daysha Luebbe and Kaiden Nehring of Beaver Dam, and Zack and Xaver Dietz of Slinger; brother Charles Luebbe of Glendale, WI; along with many other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Josephine Luebbe; his first wife Beverly; sister-in-law Dorothy; and nephew Charles (Buddy) Luebbe Jr.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2024, from 11:00AM until 2:00PM, with a Funeral Service to honor Gilbert's life at 2:15PM at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church- Jackson, 1268 Pleasant Valley Rd., West Bend, WI 53095. Burial to follow privately. Donations in Gilbert's name may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
