Obituary

GILBERT W. CARLSON

On Sunday August 11, 2024, at the young age of 81, Gilbert (Gil) W. Carlson went peacefully home to the Lord, just after Mass finished playing quietly in his room. He was surrounded by wife and family, after a short battle with Kidney failure compounded by years of heart disease. He was born on February 3, 1943 to Walter and Esther (nee Nolte) Carlson.

Gil was an avid hunter for ducks and deer, who loved his hunting dogs. He was an even bigger fisherman. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He created many things of metal and wood, even though he said he was no carpenter. Gil shared with excitement his knowledge and skills about everything in life from God, to a good fishing tip, to tricks on having successful rummage sales. His faith in the Lord grew stronger though the years and something he shared with his wife and family.  He spoke often of his years spent working and welding at Weasler Engineering, Gil's smile was infectious and conversation was limitless. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Carlson, loving father to Bonnie (Jerry Sr) Miller, Richard (Suzie) Yochem, Bill (Barb) Yochem, Teri Milligan (partner John Sancomb), and Allen (Chris) Tackes. He was a loving grandfather to 15 Grandchildren-Jerry (Stacy) Miller Jr, Eric Miller, Joshua Yochem, Brian Yochem, James Yochem, Christopher (Melissa) Yochem, Mitchell (Kristi) Milligan, Tim Milligan & (Doreen Kebabe), Sara (Cody) Schulteis, Rachel Milligan & (Don Christianson), Jason (Beth) Milligan, Erin (Eric) Kuechler, Nick (Emma) Sancomb, Roechelle (Logan) Boesche, & Robert Tackes & (Abbi Gutknecht). He was a fun Great-Grandpa to 19 Great-Grandchildren that he thought the world of. He is further survived by his brother and sister-in-Law, Robert & Elaine Carlson of Grafton, a niece Karalyn (Eric) Jagow and their family. Sister-in-Law, Rosemary (late Roger) Wojciechowski and a brother-in-law Bill (Terri) Landrath. Others of special note he leaves behind are a former son-in- Law Kevin Milligan and a dear family friend Mac McCann. Friends Chuck Steinert and Neil Marquart, Chad, as well as other family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his in-laws William & Kathryn Landrath, two children in infancy, a brother Alvin Carlson, a grandson Matthew Myers, as well as several brother in laws and sister in laws.
