Gertrude Jean Weil, nee Jordan, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at New Perspective Assisted Living in West Bend at the age of 90 years. She was born November 12, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Erwin and Dorothy (nee Mueller) Wischmeyer.
She attended Roosevelt High School in Seattle, WA and graduated from Valparaiso University where she met her husband Charles Weil and were married the day after they both graduated.
She had a professional career in Appleton, WI working in the Appleton School District and later retired with Charlie to The Villages, Florida where they were founding members of Hope Lutheran Church. While in Florida, she was very active in The Village Voices, Sweet Adelines International and other local choral and quilting groups and associations. Her passion for quilting continued throughout her life creating more than 60 custom-sewn quilts and many more pieces for tables and decorating.
Survivors include 2 children: Paul and Jon (Mary), son-in-law Roger (Laura), 4 grandchildren: Eva (LJ), Heidi (Al), Steph (Zubin) and Becca (Austin) and 6 great-grandchildren: Summer, Otis, Amelia, Nori, Aelin and Ellis and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father Waldemar Jordan, her brother Theodore Jordan, her daughter Jean Wensink and other family and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 3:00 to 4:30pm. at Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend, WI. A short prayer service will follow.
She will be inurned at St Luke's Cemetery in Chicago aside her husband, and other family members.
