Gertrude "Trudy" May Borusky, 90
Gertrude May Borusky, (nee Williams), died November 9, 2018 at Serenity Villa in Slinger at the age of 90. She was born May 20, 1928 at home in Pearson, WI. According to her mother, she weighed just 2 pounds. Her first diaper was her dad's handkerchief folded in four. She was born 5th in a family of 8 children. The first day of 5th grade, her mother told her she didn't have to go to school anymore, she should stay home and help with the children. In an unprecedented act of defiance, Mom packed her own lunch, got dressed and went to school. She completed the 8th grade.
She married James Borusky in Antigo on August 9, 1947. Trudy was very creative and taught herself crochet, ceramics, cake decorating, sewing, doll-making, quilting and painting. She decorated wedding cakes for several nieces and family friends. She made her daughter's wedding gown and the attendant's dresses. In the '60's she sewed children's p.j.s and nightgowns, selling out every year at the Richfield craft sale. She made porcelain dolls from molds, fired, painted and dressed them, winning several blue ribbons. She made scores of quilts, all of which are treasured by family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, brothers Alfred, Arthur, Richard and Floyd, and her sister Lillian. She is survived by her sisters Marion and Marcella, daughters Dawn Borusky, Darlene (David) Denis, Dana Borusky, Dale (Joanne) Borusky; grandchildren Derrick (Marla) Denis, Darrin Denis, Daniel Borusky and Dustin Denis, great-granddaughter Stella Denis and special friends Sandy and Cheryl.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Serenity Villa who far exceeded all expectations in providing comfort and care to Mom. To honor Mom's wishes, no formal services will be held.
