With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gerald Joseph Schmitt , age 66, on Wednesday, May 13,2026 at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, WI. Gerald was born in Hartford, WI on May 10,1960, to Leander and Viola (Nee: Schickert) Schmitt. He graduated from Hartford Union High School.

Gerald was very active during his life, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards and pickleball. He was employed at various companies as a store clerk.

He will be missed by his five brothers; Donald (Marie) Schmitt, David (Chris) Schmitt, Tony (Joan) Schmitt, Ron, and Darryl (Susan) Schmitt. He will also be missed by his two Godsons; Jared Schmitt and Jason Hadley, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and personal friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; Leander and Viola.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Gerald on Friday, June 5,2026 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church (1200 Gabriel Way Hubertus, WI 53033). Visitation will be held from 10:30- 12: 15 P.M. A private interment will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank Kwik Trip in Richfield for the compassion and support you showed for Gerald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
