George C Wagner, of Hartford, WI, passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2025, at the age of 84 after a courageous battle of health challenges. He was born on December 15th, 1940, to William and Meta Wagner. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Agnes (nee Beder), nieces Barbara and Judy (Kevin Klink) Wagner; brothers-in-law Paul (Diana), Frank (Karen), and Lawrence (Chris) Beder; sisters-in-law Theresa (Charles) Vogt and Claire (Michael) Nagel; and further siblings-in-law Mary Beder, Marie Goodfellow, and Ed Flasch. George is remembered by many close nieces and nephews from the Beder family; and his furry friends Pumpkin, Tiny, Tiny 2, Buster, Buster 2, and Ginger.
George spent many years in the travel industry, first working at an airline, then as a travel agent across the United States, then Greyhound. He loved being on the road- showing sites across the country. His hobbies of model trains and railroads, woodworking, and fishing were common pastimes for George. However, none compared to watching football games. George would watch games over and over, checking for mistakes to figure out why teams lost. With Agnes, George shared a love of dancing and bird watching. Through her, he became an avid supporter of the Washington County 4-H Club, though he preferred to stay behind the scenes.
George is preceded in death by his daughter Linda Wagner, parents William and Meta Wagner, his brother Donald and sister-in-law Carol. He is further preceded by his in-laws with whom he shared a special bond: Anita (nee Krebs) and Alvin Beder, along with siblings-in-law John and George Beder, Sister Irene Beder SSF, and Ruth Flasch.
Special thanks to all the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in Slinger, where George was a patient for many years, for all the great support and friendship they offered George and Agnes.
Further thanks to the St. Lawrence Fire Hall for hosting a private family and friends gathering in George's honor.
