George "Bud" W. Brugger, 81, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Ivy Manor of West Bend. He was born on June 21, 1932 to George M. and Olive (nee Schneider). He served in the US Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict. Bud married Rose (nee Marx) on May 12, 1956. He retired as a Patrol Superintendent from the Washington County Highway Department.
George was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
His favorite place on earth was the Town of Barnes in Bayfield County where he hunted deer for 65 years and spent 14 summers before he suffered a stroke. He thought Barnes might be as close to heaven as he'd ever get! Bud enjoyed playing golf—not well, but he had fun! He enjoyed spending time with family and friends both in West Bend and Barnes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; cherished children, Bill (Karen) of Slinger, Tom (Sheryl) of Kewaskum, Jack (Kathy) of Slinger, Jill (Gerald) Dhein of West Bend, Jim (Janet) of West Bend; and many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sister, Bernice Breuer of West Bend; brother-in-law, Joe Altschaefl of West Bend, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Bud is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert, sister, Ruth Altschaefl; brother-in-law, Walter Breuer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for George will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. 8th Ave. in West Bend with Fr. Gerald Brittain presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a prayer vigil at 7:00 PM and will continue at church on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 10:00 until 10:45 AM.
