Gene H. Kauper, age 73 of Hartford passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center-Grafton. He was born September 20, 1949, in Hartford, the son of Anna (Becker) and Herbert Kauper.

Gene was born and raised in Harford and graduated from Slinger High School. Gene joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged May 2, 1971. He married LaVern Mueller June 23, 1973, in Nabob, Wisconsin.

Gene retired from the Maysteel Corporation, he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all, time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW Post #8834 in Hartford and St. Peters Catholic Church in Slinger.

Gene is survived by his wife, LaVern, children, Kelly (Ryan) Fladvid, grandchildren, Katelyn, Cole, Nolan, Avery, Everly, and one brother, Herb (Lois) Kauper. He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Eldora (Weiss) Kauper, and son, Timothy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Slinger. Family and friends may gather for a visitation from 10:00 – 11:45 am at the church. Inurnment will take place immediately following at the New St. Peter's Cemetery in Slinger.
