Gary Steven Ronald Simonson, age 65, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 at The Kathy Hospice in West Bend. He fought a hard battle with esophageal cancer for 3 years when he was given 1 year from diagnosis. He was born on March 4, 1961 to Steve and the late Suzanne (nee Asbeck). Gary graduated from Slinger High School and enjoyed his working years at O’Reiley’s. A favorite pass time was going out on Big Cedar Lake with friends, of which he had many, on the pontoon with a little drinking, little smoking and some munchies. Gary devoted time to his mom making trips periodically to Eagle River, WI.

Gary is survived by his father Steve (Sande); aunts Carol and Sue and uncle Dan.

Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Sue; brother, Bob; favorite and only nephew, Jacob and his young cousin, Mikey.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) from 3:00pm until 6:00pm with family and friends speaking at 5:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, desserts were a favorite of Gary’s!
