Gary Charles (Juice) Bronson
November 23, 1946~February 3, 2026
Gary Bronson (79) joined Jesus on February 3, 2026 surrounded by his wife Barb, and family. He was born in La Crosse, WI on November 23, 1946 to Carl and Gladys (Anderson) Bronson from Cashton, and it was there he met his soul mate, Barbara, in the nursery at the same hospital. She was born that day 9 minutes after him. They met again 20 years later after graduating from High School and while attending WWTC in 1966. They were married on November 28, 1970 in Onalaska. They were married for 55 years and had an amazing journey together.
Gary graduated from Cashton High School in 1964, and attended WWTC 1965-1966. After HS graduation, he worked in Sparta; Truex Air Force Base in Madison and in 1969 started at Chrysler Outboard Corp in Hartford and Brunswick/Bayliner Outboard until it merged with Mercury Marine and closed the plant, Kemps/Marigold Foods in Cedarburg, and retiring from Molded Dimensions in Port Washington in April 2014.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cashton until joining Our Saviors Lutheran Church, West Bend in 1971. He helped the Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8434 Board for 20 years with the annual Thanksgiving food project for Washington County Lutheran Churches as well as other community projects.
He was a member of the Allenton Youth Organization coaching youth softball and a member/ officer of the Allenton Advancement Assn for several years. He was the Charter Secretary of the Allenton Lions Club and volunteered at the Hartford Friends Senior Center.
He enjoyed participating in softball, baseball and basketball making lifelong friendships with his team mates. He even played on a basketball team while living in Alaska. He cheered on Wisconsin teams in baseball, basketball and football, but was a diehard Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR as well as playing cards and board games. He took great pride in his yard and enjoyed gardening, antiquing adding to his large shot glass and beer sign collections, and coin collecting. Dancing was also important to him competing in dance competitions in WI, OH, IL, and FL, and was a member of West Bend Dance Club for 30+ years.
He especially enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends to almost all of the 50 states and Canada traveling the Alaskan Highway. He especially enjoyed cruising to the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and Hawaii with 100+ days at sea.
He is survived by his wife Barb and brother-in-law Richard (Mary Jane) Mickelson Jr., Godchildren Amy (Rob) Krueger and Daniel Simons as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends were very important to him and cherished those relationships. He lives on through his gifts of bone/tissue donations to help other in need. I want to thank the teams at St Luke’s for their loving care.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert Bronson, William Bronson, Donald (Ellen) Bronson, Richard (Elaine) Bronson, Bette (Ed) Zinke, Robert Sveum, and Juanita (Blaine) Mickelson and in laws Richard and Malita Mickelson (Loring Raymond).
Memorials can be given to organization of choice.
Visitation and Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 14 at Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend with visitation from 9-11:45. Service at 12:00 with luncheon to follow. A Celebration of Life Gathering at Cashton Community Hall, Cashton, WI on Saturday, March 21 from 10 – 1 and a Private Burial following at Portland Cemetery, Cashton, WI.
