Frank A. Vlasak of Slinger, age 84, died March 17, 2018. He was born to Frank Anton and Josie (Trappe) Vlasak on July 31, 1933 in La Farge, Wisconsin. He married Betty Van Pelt on August 24, 1957 at St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah, Wisconsin.
Frank was raised in Janesville and La Farge, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Frank was employed at Glenbeulah, Cassville, Elkhart Lake, and Slinger High Schools. He retired from Slinger High School in 1995.
Frank received a medical discharge from the United States Army.
Frank's parents died at a young age, and Frank was raised by his aunt and uncle, Freda and Gervase Wirts. Their son, Wayne, was like a brother to Frank, and Frank was raised as their son.
Frank was a proud member of both the Wisconsin and Slinger Education Associations. Frank was a life member of the National FFA. Frank coached numerous sports and was the FFA Chapter Advisor at every school he taught. Frank was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he was a past member of the Parish Council.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty. His children: Barbara (William) Yochem, Susan Yochem (Peter Kissinger), Dennis Vlasak, Jill Nimmer (Steven) Beres, Kenneth (Melissa) Vlasak, and Sandra (Samuel) Feria. His grandchildren: Christopher (Melissa) Yochem; Joshua, Brian, and James Yochem; Michael Vlasak; Danielle, Nicholas, and Nathan Nimmer; Emma (Elliot), and Jack Feria, and his great-grandchildren Teagan, Eli, and Kira Yochem. Frank is further survived by his sisters-in-law, Janet (Richard) Bauman, Kay (Ronald) Feldmann, and Diane (James) Cudworth. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Josie Vlasak, his brother George, his sister Hope and brother-in-law Joe Eastman, his mother-in-law Loraine Van Pelt, his aunt Freda and Uncle Gervase Wirts, sister-in-law Jean Rolloff, brother-in-law Bert Rolloff, son-in-law Dennis Nimmer, grandchildren Matthew Myers, Kayla Vlasak, and Brandon Vlasak, niece Sharon Perry, and nephew Billy Enders.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church (200 E. Washington St., Slinger) with Father Richard J. Stoffel presiding. Interment will take place at New. St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church only on Friday, March 23 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Memorials are appreciated to the Slinger High School Scholarship Fund, Honours, Inc.
