Francis “Ron” Oestreicher, age 82, passed away peacefully at Kathy’s Hospice in West Bend, WI. Born in Milwaukee to Francis and Sybilla Oestreicher, Ron lived a full life of happiness, adventure, and generosity.
Ron graduated from Messmer High School in 1961. He was drafted into the Army in 1969 at the age of 26, serving during the Vietnam era while stationed in Germany. He took great pride in earning both the Sharpshooter and Marksman badges during his military service. After completing his time in the Army, Ron began his sheet metal apprenticeship and went on to build a long and respected 50-year career in his trade. In 2021, he was especially proud to have worked on the renovation of the now American Family Field Brewer stadium. Ron retired as a sheet metal worker and was a longtime member of the Sheet Metal Worker Local 18.
Outside of work, Ron was an avid hunter, fisherman, a member of the Badger Fisherman Club and an enthusiastic reader.
Ron is survived by his niece and nephews Michael Karger (Christina), Steven Karger (Jan), David Karger (Cheryl), Susan Scholz (Craig), Thomas Karger, Jeannine (David) Reich. He is also remembered with love by his many great-nieces and great-nephews, including Autumn, Sebastian, and Jemma.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leroy Oestreicher and his sister Rita Karger (Oestreicher).
Ron will be remembered for his quiet generosity, and the stories he shared from a life well lived. His love for the outdoors, his dedication to his craft, and his unwavering loyalty to the people he cared about will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit and the memories he leaves behind will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A memorial service followed by Honors Ceremony will be held on Friday January 9,2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend. Visitation will be from 1:30- 2;45 P.M.
