Obituary

Francis "Frank" E. Herriges, born in St. Michaels on September 14, 1926, to Mathias "Matt" and Liocadia (nee Wilger) Herriges, entered eternal life on October 28, 2013 with his family by his side. He was the sixth of fourteen children.
Frank served our country for two years in the United States Navy during World War II where he was mainly deployed in the South Pacific Ocean near Japan. He worked at The West Bend Company until 1956, and then went on to Super Excavators in Menomonee Falls. He retired in 1987 after 31 years there. Frank was a loyal member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. He was also a member of the West Bend Moose Lodge. He loved bird watching and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He most enjoyed playing sheepshead and rummy with his children and grandchildren especially when he won! He loved to tinker in his wood working shop and make lawn ornaments and wind mills. Frank also greatly enjoyed dancing the fox trot and the two-step. He was also a huge fan of All-Star Wrestling.
Frank is survived by his six children, Daniel (Marlene) Herriges of South Dakota, David (Joan) Herriges of Sheboygan, Dick (Sharon) Herriges of West Bend, Diana (Richard) Ciriacks of West Bend, Dale (Cindy) Herriges of West Bend, and Dean (Denise) Herriges of West Bend. He is further survived by many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Rita Speth of Milwaukee, Clemens (Edith) of Arkansas, Gerald (Fran) of Sheboygan Falls, Donald(Joyce) of New Fane, Kathleen (Bill) Muldoon of Omaha, Nebraska, Evelyn Marshall of Louisiana, Albert of St. Michaels, and Andrew (Joyce) of Batavia; and brother-in-law Louis (Joan) Koenig of West Bend.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ione (nee Koenig); second wife, Eleanor (Neckuty); and his siblings and in-laws, Jerome (Rosalie), Joseph (Ethel), Sylvester, Lucille, and Raymond (Arlene).
A Mass of Christian Burial for Frank will be at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. 8th Ave. in West Bend. The family would like to express a special Thank You to Cedar Home Hospice especially Carol, Katie, Shelly, Sarah, and Bev for their in-home care, Colleen from Holy Angels Catholic Church for her spiritual care, and Fr. Jerry Repenshek for giving Frank his last rites.
