Forrest "Gene" E. Deitsch, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He was born on August 26, 1923 in Celina, Ohio to the late Henry and Rachel (nee Runkel) Deitsch. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Gene married Clara (nee Whetstone) on January 15, 1955 in Michigan. He retired from Wisconsin Paperboard Company.
Gene enjoyed doing woodworking projects and driving around in his car for picnics was a favorite pastime. He was a member of VFW Post 1393. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Clara; children, Rodney (Michelle), Lori (Robert) Schulz, Jeff (Cynthia), Dana (special friend, Kathie Teramura); 10 grandchildren Brian Nickel, Heather Schulz, Aaron Nickel, Brad Schulz, Adam, Austin, Ashlee (Jared) Davis, Sabrina, Cody, and Harrison; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Deitsch; sisters-in-law, Lu Dean (Lee) Wonch, Berdett Wadle, Sharon McVay, Judy Bowen; and his beloved dog, Duke. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by 12 siblings, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W Paradise Drive, West Bend). The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service at noon with Military Honors to follow.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Samaritan Health Care Center, Horizon Hospice, and the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their tender and loving care given to Forrest.
