Ernest Harold Lahr, age 103, passed away on Tuesday, November 25,2025 at Azura Memory Care in Brookfield, WI. He was born on April 06,1922 in Mosinee, WI, the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Nee: Meuniur) Lahr. Ernest enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Machinist during his active service. He later became employed as an Excavator. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was Hunting, fishing, riding his ATV on his farm, or even tending to his vegetable garden with his neighbors and family, he enjoyed every minute of it. He loved to cut and split wood, had a passion for playing cards and tinkering in his garage on various projects, he also loved to make his own wine. The most important thing to Ernest was his family, he loved to spend time and create memories with them all, he lived his life to the fullest.
Ernest will be deeply missed by his children, Mary “Tootie” & Joe Desautels, Carol & Ron Couillard, Christine & Ray Kobleska, Dennis & Joy Lahr, Judy & Thomas White, Robert Lahr & Lisa Leighton, and Theresa & Carl Garbers, 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He will also be missed by nieces, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Margaret, son Donald Lahr, daughter Helen Lahr, his wife of many years Betty Lahr, as well as all of his siblings, friends and neighbors.
A visitation will be held for Ernest on Sunday, December 14,2025 from 4-7P.M. at Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend. An additional visitation will be on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 10:00 A.M.-10:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Chrisitan Burial at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger. Luncheon will follow at the Church.
The family would like to thank Azura Palliative Care & Hospice for all the special care they showed Ernest will he was there. Also, to his brother-in-law Dave, for always making sure Ernest had a way to church, and their special dinners they shared together, including his favorite Head Cheese and Pork Hock.
