Elizabeth "Betty" M. Inkmann, Nee Friedl, age 88, of West Bend Cedar Community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Donald Inkmann for 48 years. Loving mother of Greg (Sue McKenna), Mark (Wendy Kamerling), Chris (Gary) Jacobson, and Julia (Dan) Wolff. Proud grandma of Matthew (Juliann Zoltak) Inkmann, Lucas Jacobson, and Sam, Emily & Owen Wolff. Dear sister-in-law of Lorraine Marks. Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary (Kastl) Friedl, her dear step-mother Mary (Lenz) Friedl, brother Ted Friedl and sister Ann (Friedl) Beno. Further survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Betty was a wonderful wife & mother, enjoying family gatherings and a full social life. She was a past employee of the Milwaukee Journal library and Branovan Shoe Co. Betty was an avid card player, enjoying bridge, sheepshead & cribbage with many groups of friends. She also was a gifted singer & pianist, receiving her training at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Betty was a devout Catholic throughout her life and she volunteered in many ways at Cedar Community. Betty particularly enjoyed birds and being outdoors in nature. In her honor, memorials to the Audubon Society or The Nature Conservancy would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Mom's many friends at Cedar Community, all the staff at Cedar Bay West and the Cottages at Cedar Run for their loving care for Mom over the past eight months, and special thanks to Cindy O'Brien.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, September 6 with a visitation at 9:30 a.m. followed by eulogies & funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend, WI. A lunch and fellowship will follow the service at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend, WI.
