Elfriede Charlotte "Snig" Gruenewald
(nee Bauer)
Passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, surrounded by her family, at the age of 87. She was born on March 1, 1936, in Bayard, NE, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gertrude Bauer. They moved to Milwaukee, and she graduated from Shorewood High School. Elfriede married the love of her life Roy R. Gruenewald on September 29, 1956, in Milwaukee and began their family. Elfriede enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, cooking and wintering in Parker, AZ. She loved music and playing the organ and was an active member of Zion EV. Lutheran Church.
Elfriede is survived by her children Darcy Mueller, Mark (Audra) Gruenewald; grandchildren Camron (Heather) Cook, Dawn (Bryan) Grohskopf, Tamara (Chris) Lawrence, Davine (fiancé Dylan Black) Gruenewald and Danielle (Matt) Fishbeck; great-granddaughter Mackenzie Lawrence; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; daughters Teri Lyn Cook, and Susan Debra Gruenewald; son-in-law Glenn Mueller.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 10:00AM until 11:45AM at the Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend, WI, with the Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon. Pastor Steven Bode presiding. The inurnment will follow the service at Washington County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the family for a charity of Elfriede's choice at a later date.
