Obituary

Edward "Ed" J. Hetebrueg, 87 of West Bend passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29 th at the at of 87, at The Kathy Hospice with his loving family by his side.

He was born March 21, 1938 in West Bend to Walter and Lorene Hetebrueg, and graduated from West Bend High School in 1956 and joined the Army Reserves.

He was united in marriage to Elvira Dohrwardt on June 13, 1959 at Holy Angels Parsonage of West Bend, the couple lived in the Town of Trenton where they farmed for many years and raised three children. Ed was also employed at Grob Inc in Grafton, retiring at 80 years of age.  Elvira preceded him in death on March 30 th , 2001.  Ed was later united in marriage to Joan Laastch on May 31 st , 2002.  She preceded him in death on March 28 th , 2023.

Ed was the Town Constable for the Town of Trenton in the 1970's, secretary of the Washington County Holstein Breeders, member of the board of directors for Midland Coop, long time trustee of St Augustine Church.

Ed had a love for snowmobiling even having a snowmobile repair service called E&E Repair, in addition to his full-time farming operation. In his early years he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad and brothers and oh the stories they could share.  Ed had a passion for red tractors, and they never let him down at the tractor pulls.  He has many trophies to show for his success and the envy of his competitors.

Ed enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and in later years his great- grandchildren showing cattle at the Washington County Fair.  His unwavering dedication and boundless love for his family are the cornerstones of his enduring legacy.

Survivors include three children, Eugene (Brenda) Hetebrueg of Allenton, Ellen (Mark) Schaefer and Eric (Tracy) Hetebrueg of West Bend. Five grandchildren, Tyler (Heidi) Hetebrueg, Melissa (Rick) Roden, Mark E (Emily) Schaefer, Andrew (Trinity Jank) Hetebrueg and Kaitlyn Hetebrueg, eight great-grandchildren, Phebe, Jimmi & Raymond Hetebrueg, Kendra, Brooke & Rhen Roden, Waylon Hetebrueg, Lacey Schaefer and two more due in September. Further survived by one brother Paul Hetebrueg, one sister Susan Hetebrueg, two brothers in law Frank (Barb) Dohrwardt and Willard Dohrwardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter & Lorene Hetebrueg, his in-laws Alfred & Veronica Dohrwardt, his wife Elvira of 41 years and Joan of 20 years; sisters Lucille (Merlin) Geidel, Mary "Honey" (Keith) Knoll, and Ruth Hetebrueg in infancy, brother Robert (Mercedes) Hetebrueg, sister in laws Sandy Hetebrueg, Sylvia (August Jr) Fechter and other family & friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 3:00PM until 7:00PM, at the Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend.

A Celebration of Ed's life will be held at
The Columbian ( 3245 Lighthouse Ln, West Bend), on Monday night starting at 6:00 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 8, at 11:00AM, PLEASE ARRIVE BY 10:45AM , at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 N. 8 th Ave., West Bend. Burial to follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, town of Trenton.

Flowers are welcome or memorials to St. Augustine Building Fund would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the Kathy Hospice staff and caregivers Ann Klumb and Cindy Yoeckel, for the care and compassion they showed to Ed.
