Dorothy Helen Ester Hinrichs (Nee Janke) of the town of Polk passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Lawlis Family Hospice at the age of 96 years. She was born March 8, 1925, in Milwaukee to Edwin and Hazel Janke.
Dorothy was raised in Milwaukee graduating from Rufus King High School Class of 1943. As a young woman she worked as a typist. She then excelled at her career as wife and mother, which gave her great pride.
She married the love of her life Arno Hinrichs on April 27, 1946, in Milwaukee. They enjoyed skiing, kayaking, fishing, and boating for most of their years together. Dorothy was a force to be reckoned with while playing Sheepshead, 500 and Sequence.
She enjoyed retirement with Arno on Little Cedar Lake with her family and friends. Mom was able to live happily in her home cooking and baking for the family while also feeding and watching the wildlife. Dorothy was a wife, mother and grandmother beyond measure. We her children were blessed with having the world's greatest mother. Mom always put her husband and children before all else.
Surviving Dorothy are her children Michael (Carol) of Amherst, Susan Banse of Germantown, Judith (Michael) Majewski of Oconomowoc and Robert (JoAnne) of Poinciana, FL, her grandchildren Julie (Dan) de Snoo, Holly (Todd) Roskopf, Jessica (Michael) Hammond, John Hinrichs (fiancé Andrea), Amanda (Melanee) Meegan, Daniel (Kaela) Hinrichs and Melissa and Katherine Majewski along with 7 great grandsons – Brogan, Evan, Garrison, Jase, Joshua, Francis and Theodore. Also surviving is her sister Marilyn VanTassell and brother Robert Janke, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by Arno, son-in-law Marvin Banse, sister-in-law Shirley Janke and her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday January 6, 2022, at St. Luke Lutheran Church (4860 Arthur Rd Slinger) with Rev. Harpster officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00am until time of service. Interment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
