Dorothy Mary Harrington (nee Vande Boom), 93, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014. She was born in the Township of Cedarburg on November 30, 1920, to the late Norbert and Margaret (Wollner) Vande Boom and married Michael (Mike) Harrington on June 12, 1940 at Immaculate Conception Church in Saukville. They farmed the family farm in Saukville until moving to West Bend in 1951. Mike owned and operated Harrington Oil Company in West Bend, for which Dorothy did the book work.

She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend for 63 years. She enjoyed gardening, collecting Santas, and helping others. She still has the Santa that Mike gave her on their 1st Christmas together in 1940.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and never wanted to be a burden to her children saying, "You do what you need to, I'll be OK."

She will be sadly missed by her children: Michael (Dorothy) Harrington of Port Washington, Tom (Maggie) Harrington of Sacramento, CA, Mariann (Les) Gundrum of West Bend, Colleen (Bob) Ruhnke of Kewaskum; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Rita Arentz, Celia Albers, Bernice Schueller; and a brother, George (Frances) Vande Boom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike on April 16, 1999; siblings: Anita Bell, Marie Rennicke, Ralph Vande Boom; in-laws: Carol Vande Boom, Carl Arentz, Robert Schueller, Robert Bell, Vern Albers, Roland Rennicke, Jake and Lucille Karius; two nieces and three nephews.

The Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N 8th Ave, West Bend) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Saukville at 2:00 PM.
