Donald Edward Zautcke, age 82, of Big Cedar Lake and most recently of Brookfield, was called home to be with the Lord and loved ones on June 13, 2016. Don was born on April 6, 1934 to the late Harold and Katherine (nee Robinson) Zautcke in Milwaukee. As a teen he attended Boys Trade and Technical High School. When called upon by his country to serve in the Korean Conflict, Don joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan and California serving as a communications specialist. After his military service, he took classes in machining at MATC, and was later employed by Allen Bradley (Rockwell International) for 30 years retiring as a supervisor.
On April 28, 1962, Don married Joy Darlyne Highman and for many years they lived at Cedar Lake Hills enjoying fishing, boating and their many Poodle dogs. Don was a member of American Legion Post #449, and St. Luke Lutheran Church in Slinger.
Don is survived by his sister Janet Hucker, half brothers Kenneth, Richard, Walter (Karen) and Marvin (Cheryl) Zautcke, nieces nephews other relatives and friends and a very special friend Susie Keuper.
Graveside services will be held Thursday June 23rd at 1pm at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend with full military honors. Interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Luke Endowment Fund (4860 Arthur Rd, Slinger, WI 53086), the American Legion Post #449 (3245 N 124th St, Brookfield, WI 53005) or the charity of your choice appreciated.
The family sincerely thanks the medical and nursing staff at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee for the loving attention Don received while in their care.
