In Loving Memory of Donald Leininger (1940–2024)
Donald Leininger, age 84, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Lumia Mequon in Mequon, Wisconsin. He had lived in West Bend from 1972 to 2024 and later in Mequon until his passing. Born on July 13, 1940, to the late Paul and Meta (nee Stoltenberg) Leininger, Don married Barbara (nee Boelkens) on February 16, 1963, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Don worked at Perlick Brass Co. in Milwaukee for over 40 years, serving as both a machinist and foreman. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work. Don was an active and devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in West Bend for over 50 years. His faith was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed being part of a community that shared his values.
Don was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; their sons Dave (Mary) Leininger and Bill (Mari) Leininger; grandchildren Amanda and Alex Leininger, and Kaitlin and Shane Jach; four great-grandchildren; his sister Judy Rode; sister-in-law Carol (John) Garms; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
An avid outdoorsman, Don found joy in many activities with his family. He loved golfing in Door County with Barbara, fishing with his sons and grandsons, and hunting with his sons and his best friend. He was also a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, often cheering them on with a beer in hand. Don and Barbara cherished their vacations together, creating fond memories that they held close.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend, on Saturday, January 4, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Don will be laid to rest at Washington County Memorial Park.
