Donald A. "Don" Feilbach passed peacefully on February 7, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on August 21, 1929, the oldest son of the late Donald J. and Gladys (nee Giese) Feilbach.
Don married the love of his life, Eilleen Walz, on May 11, 1957 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. They celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage before she passed following a battle with cancer.
As a teacher with MPS, Don taught at Siefert Elementary school for 37 years before retiring. He was passionate about teaching and strived to improve conditions for students and teachers through his work with the Milwaukee Teachers' Education Association. He served multiple terms as President, on the Executive Board and remained active in the union throughout his retirement.
Don grew up spending time at Big Cedar Lake where he enjoyed swimming, sailing, boating and fishing. As a member of the Cedar Lake Patch Club, he taught sailing school and judged races before starting a family. He passed his love of the lake to his children and grandchildren and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends.
When not at the lake, Don enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, reading, traveling to Door County, to the East Coast to visit lighthouses and to State and National Parks including the Rocky Mountains. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Prince of Peace, faithfully attending services and Bible class.
Don is survived by his daughters Lisa Bye and Laura (Mike) Duchelle, grandchildren Lindsay and Alyssa Kalski and Aidan Duchelle, daughter-in-law Michele Mathe and many other dear family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son Mark Feilbach, grandson Reilly Duchelle and siblings Cherry (Del) Mathieus and Richard (Mary Ann) Feilbach.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10:00AM until 11:45AM, with a Funeral Service at 12:00PM, at Lutheran church of the Prince of Peace, W156N7149 Pilgrim Rd., Menomonee Falls. Burial will take place at 3:00PM at Sunny Side Cemetery, Lannon. In lieu of memorials to the Church or Cedar Lake Conservation Foundation would be appreciated.
