David R. Ryan, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center (Zablocki). He was born on September 4, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI to Thomas and Gladys (nee Erickson) Ryan.

He served in the US Marines for 6 years where he received a purple heart and a bronze star with V for valor. He also served in the Air National Guard until 1988. He went on to serve in Racine County as Deputy for 23 years where he was recognized as a sharpshooter. David loved our great country and was honored to be able to serve. David loved fishing, woodworking, the Green Bay Packers and being an active member of the Jackson WI VFW Post 7240 where he served as commander and the VFW Post 1393 in West Bend WI. David loved his family and had a great sense of humor. He had many friends and was very kind and social.

David is survived by his brother: Thomas Ryan. His Sister: Janice Wokson. Nephews: Sean (Erin) Ryan, Michael (Nancy) Kovac. Nieces: Kelly Ryan, Rochelle Kovac, Melissa Wokson Johnson and Renne Walker. He is further survived by Great Nephews and Nieces: Colin Ryan, Anne Tobias, Nataly Stevens, Kaylee Johnson, Nicholas Kovac, Ryan Kovac, Casandra Kovac and Danielle Kovac and many other family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Gladys (nee Erickson) Ryan, Sister in Law, Susan Ryan and Great Niece Stephanie Johnson.

Service with Military Honors will take place at 12:00pm sharp on Friday August 17th at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182).
