David L. Hoppe "Dave", age 58, of West Bend, ended his battle with cancer with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was born on November 21, 1956 in Baltimore, MD to Robert and Delores (nee Giardini) Hoppe. Dave was raised in Baltimore and graduated from Dundalk High School in 1974. He met Cindi on July 8th, 2003 via an online ad, and they married on February 18, 2012 in Grafton. Dave was self-employed as a software developer as President of Apogee Development Inc.
Dave was a generous, kind person who opened his heart to Cindi, her children and her entire family. Music was an important part of Dave's life from childhood through his adult life. Dave was a talented keyboardist in several bands and could really rock a polyester suit. Dave had a passion for life that carried over into sailing, soaring, radio controlled airplanes, camping, vacationing "especially to Cancun" and throwing an annual Fourth of July party and spectacular firework display. Dave fought cancer the way he lived his life with strength, grace, humor and tenacity. Dave touched many lives and he will be greatly missed.
Dave is survived by his wife, Cindi Hennes; step children Chris Paszkiewicz and Amber (Jose Verdin) Schultz; brothers Richard R. (Fran), Barry A. (Virginia) and Donald P. (Lupe); Brother-in-law to Christine, Randy (Jen), Jerry (Susie), Dan (Steph) and Al (Tracy); Dave was also an uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle and terrific friend to many. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Patricia L. Hoppe (nee Defenbaugh) and parents-in-law Ted and Rita Hennes.
A Memorial Service will be held at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Matt Hadley of Still Waters Church officiating.
