Darlene Joyce Sherman (nee Wutkowski), 61, of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2024, at Froedtert in Milwaukee, just two days shy of her 62nd birthday.Born to Frank and Helen (nee Misiak) Wutkowski on January 5, 1962, in Milwaukee, Darlene spent her life surrounded by the love of family and friends. In the heart of Milwaukee, she found her life partner, Tom Sherman, marrying him on April 26, 1985. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage and built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Throughout her life, Darlene embraced the simple pleasures, finding joy in activities such as camping, bowling, rafting, and vacationing with family and friends. As the years passed, she discovered new sources of happiness, delighting in her grandchildren, tending to her garden, marveling at the beauty of hummingbirds, and enjoying a cooking show or two. Darlene's vibrant spirit and love for adventure made every moment special.
One of Darlene's greatest joys in life was her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Tom, their two children, Nicole (Brandon) Gabelbauer and Brad (Melissa) Sherman, grandchildren Sophia, Carter, Aubrey, Wyatt, Zoey, and Myles, as well as siblings Nancy (Tom) Zernia, Linda (the late Dan) Haasch, and Mary (Roger) Wichner, along with other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her warm and loving presence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen Wutkowski, as well as her brother, Robert Wutkowski.
Darlene's unexpected departure has created a void in the hearts of those who cherished her.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Darlene's life will be held on Friday, January 12th at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095). Visitation will take place from 4:00 pm until 5:45 pm, with the Memorial Service beginning at 6:00 pm. A luncheon will follow, providing an opportunity for friends and family to gather and share memories of Darlene.
