Clarence Joseph Schmidt, age 89, of West Bend, Wisconsin was called home to be with the Lord on June 17th, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Clarence was born on January 5th, 1937, in West Bend Wisconsin to Michael and Anita (nee Emmer) Schmidt. He was a 1955 graduate of West Bend High School. He was united in marriage to Margie Weninger on July 12th, 1958.
During his childhood, he was raised on a family farm near Allenton, Wisconsin. Clarence was a devoted member of the catholic faith belonging to St. Michael's Parish in Kewaskum Wisconsin. Clarence loved to share stories about his career including working on the farm, hauling milk cans, driving trucks to build roads, and working for the Gehl company. Above all, Clarence treasured his family and enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He loved to walk around his lake, polka dance, drive trucks, tractors and play sheepshead.
Those Clarence leave behind to cherish his memory include his children: Suzanne (James) Jessen, Gerald (April) Schmidt, Thomas Schmidt, Rose (Greg) Nelson, James (Denise) Schmidt, and Anthony Schmidt; grandchildren: Andrea Jessen, Melissa (Robert) Pollard, Chris Jessen (special friend Brittany Kobiske), Jennifer Schmidt Bellar, Matthew Schmidt, Brittany (Anthony) Garrett, Michaela Nelson, Alec (Meagan) Nelson, Jessie (special friend Karlie Grahn), Erin (Vince) Davisson, Eric Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt (fiancé Emma Kubal); great grandchildren: Miley Schmidt, Jake Schmidt, Chloe Bellar, Sophia Pollard, Hans Pollard, Sawyer Nelson, and Finan Davisson; sister Arlene Deuber; Sister in laws: Sally Retzlaff, Mary Bozo, Betty Schmidt, and Dorothy Schmidt; brother in laws: Art Retzlaff and Marc Bozo. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his loving wife Margie Schmidt; daughter Bonnie Schmidt; brothers; Alfred Schmidt, Harvey Schmidt, John Schmidt, Herbert Schmidt, Joseph Schmidt; sister Dorothy Heinecke; brother in laws George Deuber, Jack Weninger, Roman Weninger, Pete Heinecke, Richard Bacon; sister in laws Florence Schmidt, Rhea Schmidt, Catherine Weninger, Shirley Bacon; niece Teresa Stiff, and nephew John Schmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Clarence on Wednesday, July 1,2026 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (8883 Forest View Rd. Kewaskum, WI). Visitation will be from 9:30 -10:45 A.M. Burial will follow immediately after Mass.
