Chuck grew up in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Rufus King High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Air Force on November 9, 1951, the day after his 19th birthday. Chuck was a mechanic in the Air Force for four years. He was stationed in Greenland during the Korean War.
Chuck married his high school sweetheart, Carol (nee Oudinot), on October 14, 1952. He came home on leave for the weekend so they could get married. After the service, Chuck spent most of his career spray painting for Grob, Inc. in Grafton. For several years, he also worked a second job at the Spur station in Cedarburg. He often traded oil changes for Tomaso's pizza. Chuck retired from Grob in 1994.
Chuck loved working on cars and growing huge pumpkins in the garden. He shot darts and played Sheepshead. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He used to go to Packer games at County Stadium. Chuck also enjoyed vacationing "up North" in the summers. They rented cabins in various locations around the state when the boys were young, and they built a cabin in Waupaca in 1972 and that's where "up North" has been since then.
Two of the highlights of Chuck's life were watching his grandchildren grow up and going on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Chuck is survived by his wife of almost 73 years, Carol, and his two sons, Jim (Irene) and Gary (Amy). Chuck is further survived by his five grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, Matt, Allison, and Heather, and his five great-grandchildren, Oisin, Gage, Mikaela, Cashaes, and Jordynn.
