Obituary
Catherine Edna "Katy" Purgett (nee Blume) of Germantown, WI passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Samaritan in West Bend surrounded by her family. She was 93 years young.
She was born on May 8, 1929 in Marathon, WI to Ludwig and Anna (nee Heil) Blume. She was 1 of 14 children. She married Eugene E. Purgett on June 21, 1947 in Owen, WI in the priest's rectory in the Woodland Hotel. After marriage they moved to Milwaukee, WI where she was a homemaker and helped run the family business.
Catherine enjoyed being a homemaker. She held a strong description as a homemaker, raising 5 children and 1 granddaughter. She loved working in her gardens, canning, cooking, baking, crocheting and knitting. She also loved watching birds in her yard.
Catherine had a very sweet demeanor; she was very well known for always smiling and being cheerful. She loved to visit with everyone.
She is survived by three children, Gloria (Bob) Allen, Paul (Carol) Purgett and Laura (Bill) Kirchen; six grandchildren, Travis (Tracy) Plaskey, Christine (Jeff) Wick, Susan David (Longtime friend Ryan), Eric Kirchen, Jaime (Mike) Morgan, Shannon (Steve) Madsen; nine great-grandchildren, Skyler, Celeste, Grace, Hunter, Zarina, Natalie, Caleb, Evelyn and Rose; step great-grandchildren, Rhianna Madsen, Robert and Abraham Wick. She is further survived by many caring relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Anna Blume. Her husband, Eugene who died January 14, 2001; two children Anna (Purgett) Burdick and Duane Purgett; one grandson Paul C. Purgett and her eleven siblings.
Visitation will be at 11:00 AM until 1:45 PM. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095). Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dale Zarling, a dear friend of the family officiating. Private Interment at Washington County Memorial Park.
