IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol
Hennarichs
January 2, 1936 – June 8, 2025
Carol Jean Hennarichs (nee Towne), 89, of Slinger, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Froedtert Hospital in West Bend.
Carol was born on January 2, 1936 in Fond du Lac to Floyd and Verna (nee Irwin) Towne. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1953, then went on to earn her Bachelor of Education with a focus in Kindergarten from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1957. Carol dedicated forty-two years to teaching Kindergarten and retired from the Germantown School District in 2002. On November 30, 1957, she married Robert Hennarichs. Carol was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) and an active volunteer with many organizations and charities.
Carol was a beloved kindergarten teacher, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, community volunteer, and cherished friend. Teaching was her life's passion. Over the years, she taught hundreds of children, and in some cases, their children as well. She was known for her patience, creativity, musical talent, kindness, infectious energy, and lasting impact on her students and their families. Her commitment to education was recognized in the 1992 edition of '
Who's Who Among American Teachers
'.
In the best way possible, Carol never acted her age. She danced in the kitchen, would laugh until she cried, and could turn an ordinary moment into something unforgettable. Her positivity was contagious and her love for life was unmistakable. She often reminded others, "Don't be a grumpy!". Carol loved spending time with family and friends, taking photos, crafting, animals, camping and traveling with her husband, Robert.
Carol is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Hennarichs of Slinger; granddaughter, Daniella (Alex) Curbelo of Greenfield; great-grandson Christian Curbelo; and niece Linda Rather of Ripon.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Tari Torres; Sisters Margene Guenther and Joyce Verette; brother Erwin Towne (at birth), and nephew James D. Rather.
Her laughter, patience and love for children will live on in every life she touched.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
