Carl R. Bloom, age 87, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at The Kathy Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 7, 1926, in Chicago to Frank and Emma (nee Johnson) Bloom. Carl was raised in Owen and graduated from Owen High School in 1944. He met Betty Jean Koerner while in high school, and they married on July 9, 1949, in Colby. Carl was employed as a Draftsman at Gehl Co. until he retired in 1990. He was a member of the 25 year Hexelbank Club.
Carl's interests included bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed Badger, Packer and Brewer games. Carl loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jean; children David Bloom, Diane Bloom, Janice Johnson, Gerald (Sandy) Bloom and Debra (Joel Johnson) Bloom; grandchildren Jay Bloom, Zachary (Courtney) Bloom, Matt Bloom, Melanie (Kevin) Gonring, Jeremy (Tammy) Johnson, Joshua (Jessica) Johnson, Julia (Kevin) Garczynski, Connor Johnson, Jack Johnson and Bennett Johnson; 7 great-grandchildren; brother Herbert (Sally) Bloom; sister Esther Salzgeber, brother-in-law Donald (Yvonne) Koerner; sister-in-law Carol (Dennis) Feind; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law Allan Litten and Chris Salzgeber.
Private services were held. Memorials to the Washington County Senior Center and The Kathy Hospice appreciated.
