Bernice (Bea) Helen Cannefax passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 25 at Harvest Home. She had just turned 92 two weeks earlier. Her life was one that touched and inspired many with her quiet determination and generous spirit.
Bea is survived by her daughter Jackie Cannefax and her husband Mike Cornwall of San Francisco. She was predeceased by her sons Mark Cannefax and Scott Cannefax, former husband, Robert Francis Cannefax, sisters Marie Gribner, Irene Hriz and brother Larry Naymik. Bea leaves behind a loving extended family, including nephews Andy Hriz and (CJ) of Asheville, North Carolina and Kurt Hriz (Marsha) of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Born in Cleveland Ohio on October 10, 1922, Bea was the daughter of Michael and Susan Naymik. She lived in Cleveland with her family through her early 20's. After marrying Robert Cannefax, they settled in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where they raised their family for nearly 20 years. From Michigan they spent another several years in London, England before settling in West Bend. Upon moving to West Bend, Bea worked for Ziegler Leasing Corporation for 22 years and was one of Leasing's original employees. She was as Executive Secretary/Leasing Administrator.
Bea's life was dedicated to her family and St. Frances Cabrini Parish. She loved animals, especially her dogs and was an avid golfer. Bea was a talented craft-maker and artisan. An expert knitter, she made beautiful sweaters, scarfs and baby clothes, which she donated to local women's shelters; and hundreds of baby afghans that she donated to Christ Child Society, Milwaukee.
She will be remembered for her many contributions to the community. She worked in the Parish office at St. Frances Cabrini for many years and devoted time and energy to several other organizations; The West Bend Woman's Club, Friends of Abused Families and The Moraine Symphony Orchestra Board.
On Saturday, November 1, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Frances Cabrini Parish. The Visitation is at 10:30 am and the Mass will follow at 11:30 am. In accordance with Bea's wishes, a private family burial will take place at a later date in Michigan. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Church, made in memory of Bea Cannefax, and sent to 1025 South 7th Avenue, West Bend, Wisconsin 53095.
