Bernice M. Breuer
Bernice Margaret Breuer (nee Brugger), 95, of West Bend entered eternal life on February 13, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones at her home.
Bernice was born on April 10, 1929, in West Bend, WI, to George and Olive (nee Schneider) Brugger, the oldest of 3 children. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1947 and married her loving husband Walter "Wally" Breuer on September 11, 1948, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. They resided in St. Anthony, WI, and after retirement, moved to West Bend.
Bernice and Wally raised 5 children on their family dairy farm. She worked at Amity Leather Company, Fireside Restaurant, and Bits N Pieces Floral. She was active in the "Young at Heart" church group, and enjoyed going on bus trips, volunteering at KC Hall Fish Fry's, the Allenton Picnic, Holy Angels Festival, and West Bend German Fest.
Bernice loved reminiscing with others, especially sharing stories from her childhood and about her father being the Sheriff of Washington County. Bernice was an avid walker, loved spending time outdoors, tending to her plants and flowers, and going to the West Bend Farmers Market. She found joy in time with family and friends, the holidays, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She enjoyed Friday night fish fry's, a good old fashioned, and watching tv with chips and an ice cold beer.
Bernice's most cherished roles were daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved her family unconditionally and was adored by many. She was a devout Catholic woman with unwavering faith and dedication to God.
Bernice is survived by her loving children: Larry (Karen) Breuer, Garry (Connie) Breuer, Terry (Linda) Breuer, Mark (Nancy) Breuer, Jean Breuer (Gary Gonnering), 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary Peters, and brother-in-law Jerry (Rosie) Breuer.
She is preceded in death by her husband (Walter), parents (George & Olive Brugger), in-laws (Frank & Louise Breuer), brother (George "Bud" Brugger), sister (Ruth Altschaefl), brother and sisters-in-law, great-grandson (Sonny Kearns), nieces, nephews, and special cousin (Virginia "DeDe" Boccaccio).
Visitation for Bernice will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church - 138 N 8th Ave, West Bend, WI 53095 on February 24, 2025, from 9:30 - 11:15 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am. Burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
