Obituary
Bernadine M. Brace (Nee: Moran), 95, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Compassionate Heights in West Bend, WI. Bernadine was born on February 15,1930 in Barton, WI., the daughter of the late Loyal and Hildegard (Nee: Otten) Moran. On November 7,1953 Bernadine married Herbert Brace, who preceded her in death on October 10,2020. She was employed as a Cosmetics Sales Rep for Avon for 50 Years. In her free time Bernadine loved knitting, especially for her children and grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday; she always enjoyed baking cookies and other sorts of baked goods. She also loved to work with her hands, whether she was planting flowers and gardening, making crafts and creating beautiful paintings, or working on word searches. Bernadine was known for always keeping a very neat and clean house.
Bernadine is survived by her children: Sandy Carter of Baxley, GA., Kay Wamsley (Fiancé' David Lang) , Bill (Candee) Brace, and Mary (Steve) Nyhouse all of West Bend, WI and Barb (Randy) Bodden of Kewaskum, WI. Grandchildren, Jenny (Bob) Welsch, Jeffrey Langlois, Sarah Carter, Russell (Kim) Carter, Mark Wamsley (Amy Szerbowski), Jaime Wamsley, Claire Barker (Amelia Smith) , Morgan Brace (Jason Petri) , Andrew (Jessica) Brace, Nick (Lisa) Nyhouse, Katie Nyhouse (Fiancé' Richard Lally), Ryan (Jaclyn) Bodden and Brad Bodden.
She will also be survived by her Great- grandchildren: Daniel Janeshek, Trevor Janeshek, Luke (Abigail Sharpe), Scarlett, Sawyer, and Lincoln Langlois, Madison Carter, Summer Wamsley, Mason Wamsley, Lilliana, Dawson, Novaleigh Nyhouse, and Rhett Lally, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Bernadine is preceded in death by her daughter Judy Brace, son Tom Brace, two brothers, Jerry (Dorothy) Moran, Eugene (Nancy) Moran; three sisters, Mary (Terry) Dempsey, Kathy (Jim) Vetter, and Nancy Olson; Mother and father-in-law, Herbert and Augusta Brace, and brothers and sisters -in-law, Wilbur (Gerri) Brace, Henry (Shirley) Brace, Bob (Dee Dee) Brace.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bernadine on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Bend. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will take place during burial to honor the life and service of her late husband Herbert Brace.
The family would like to thank the staff at Compassionate Heights of West Bend, as well as Preceptor Hospice, for the loving care that they showed Bernadine while she was in their care.
