Barbara Mabel Kasper (nee Riegner)

September 9, 1936 – September 1, 2024

West Bend, WI. September 1, 2024: Barbara Kasper passed away at Cedar Community The Willows.

Barbara Mabel Kasper (Riegner) was the first daughter of Milta Caroline Alice (Thiele) Riegner and Kurt John Riegner followed by brother Burnell who passed as an infant and Laura (Edward) Fenger.  She grew up and went to school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduating from Rufus King High School in 1955. She married Roland F. Kasper later that same year. Roland preceded her in death in 2017. Born to their union were Russell J. Kasper (Nancy Dorrycott), Brenda (Jack) O'Brien, Beth (Bob) Wooldridge, and Beverly (John) Foyse. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Over the years Barbara enjoyed a variety of jobs. She worked at F.W. Woolworth, Pritzlaff Wholesale, Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company.  In between school, house chores and work she spent many hours enjoying the companionship of her little sister, Laura. After marriage, Barbara worked for various companies demonstrating products in the home, Gilles Frozen Custard, even an Aide at the Sanitarium. After moving to Port Washington, as a mother she enjoyed volunteering as Cub/ Boy and Brownie/Girl Scout Leaders for her children and neighborhood kids. In the 1960's she was an active member in numerous civic organizations in Port Washington, Wisconsin. To keep busy while her husband was away working as a traveling salesman for the L. M. Berry Company – The Yellow Page Sales, Barbara worked as an Avon Trainer/Assistant manager, Welcome Wagon Representative for Port Washington, and at The Grand store.

Family time was usually spent traveling to Door County area.  They purchased land in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin and then a camper to enjoy "ruffing it" as Roland would call it.

Once her children had grown up and flew the nest, Barb and Roly travelled the country taking bus tours and car trips throughout the USA. In between their trips Barb continued employment to keep busy and meet new friends. She worked at Toy World in West Bend, Cedar Campuses as an Activity Aide, Actnow (store demo), Tri-Manor as their Activity Director (Jackson, West Bend, Hartford, and Mayville), and The Christian Home as an Activity Aide. After all this she finally retired in 1992.

Barbara and Roland lived in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee, Port Washington, Baileys Harbor, New Berlin, Waupun, and West Bend all in Wisconsin, then onto Nashville, Tennessee. After retirement, the couple became "Snow Bunnies" and spent time traveling and wintering in Alabama and Florida. In their final years they settled into a peaceful life of a retirement community in West Bend. So many friends were made and enjoyed.

The family wants to thank everyone at Cedar Ridge Community, Cedar Community The Willows and Common Heart Hospice for their thoughtful and generous care of our mother.

A Private Memorial Service and Ash Burial will take place at Cedar Community Memorial Garden at a later date.
