Annette Marie Wiedmeyer (nee Schmitt) joined her loving husband, Giles (Butch) in heaven on September 5, 2014, at the age of 92. She peacefully passed away at NHC Nursing Home in Town & Country, Missouri, after a short illness. Annette was born September 4, 1922, in the Town of Polk to the late William and Lillian (nee Heppe) Schmitt and was raised on the family farm. She graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1940. She was later united in marriage to Giles Frank "Butch" Wiedmeyer on September 2, 1944. They lived in Jackson for several years before moving into their new home in the Town of Polk in 1958 where she raised her two children Judie and Warren.
She was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Slinger. In her youth she enjoyed gardening, painting, playing cards (sheepshead in particular) and baking. Around 1959 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. In spite of this crippling disease she had a joyful air about her, always quick with a witty comment. After Butch passed away in 1977 she took up residence with her daughter, Judie, and her husband Gary Winters at their home in Manchester, Missouri. She lived with them up until the last few weeks of her life during which Judie and Gary cared for her. She thoroughly enjoyed seeing Judie and Gary's children grow up and eventually marrying. She kept busy playing cards (King's Corners), reading and, in spite of living in St. Louis, cheering on the Green Bay Packers in the fall and winter months. Great-grandchildren also brought her great joy and happiness. Annette also had good times visiting her son and family in Winchester, WI, during the summers, and visiting with friends and relatives "back home" when she was able to travel.
Annette is survived by her two children, Judith (Gary) Winters of Manchester, MO and Warren (Pamela) Wiedmeyer of Slinger, WI. She was the proud grandmother of Erika (Chris) Downey, Jared (Stephanie) Wiedmeyer, Kristin (Kevin) Mut, Carin (John) Groh and Jenna Wiedmeyer; great grandchildren Jonathan Downey, Connor Downey, Creighton Mut and Evelyn Mut; sister Geraldine Konrath of Slinger; other nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first daughter, Kathleen; her loving husband, Butch; two sisters, Isabelle Weber and Marguerite Gundrum; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Annette will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Slinger (200 E. Washington St.). The Very Rev. Richard Stoffel will officiate. Visitation will be at the Church on Tuesday from 5 P.M. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Memorials should be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the "Food for the Poor" charity.
The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care of Annette during the last week of her life by RN's Sherry Pesicka and Patricia Lucido of Caris Hospice in Missouri and all of the nurses and aides who took care of her at NHC Nursing Home.
